We are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team, as a maternity cover. As our in-house Legal Counsel in our Copenhagen office or London office, you will provide expert legal advice and guidance to support our organisation in making informed decisions and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and insurance requirements. You will be responsible for handling a variety of legal matters, including contract drafting, risk management, insurance-related issues, and updating and taking care of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) scheme. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience as an in-house legal counsel and possess excellent analytical skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to effectively communicate complex legal and insurance concepts to stakeholders at all levels..

Role amp; responsibilities
- Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues to internal stakeholders, including management, departments, and project teams.
- Contract Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the organisation's interests and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Compliance: Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices to ensure the organisation's compliance and provide guidance on compliance matters.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate and manage these risks effectively.
- Dispute Resolution: Assist in the resolution of legal disputes, including managing external legal counsel, conducting investigations, and negotiating settlements.
- Policy Development: Develop, review, and implement organisational policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and mitigate legal risks.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on legal issues.
- External Engagement: Liaise with external legal advisors, regulatory bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to represent the organisation's interests and stay informed about legal developments.
- Intellectual Property: Provide advice and assistance regarding intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
- Visa Applications: Assist in the preparation of visa requirements for employees, talents, partners, or other individuals requiring authorization to work or travel internationally.
- Fundraising: Provide legal support and guidance in fundraising activities, including keeping the data room updated.
- Insurances: Collaborate with insurance brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure adequate insurance coverage, negotiate favourable terms, and stay informed about changes within the company that can have an impact on our insurance coverage
Requirements
- Master of Laws degree
- Several years of experience practising law, preferably as an in-house legal counsel and/or a scale-up.
- Experience managing and supervising external legal advisors
- Ability to interpret complex legal documents and communicate legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated drafting and reviewing skills for contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal documents.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- High ethical standards and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Understanding and commitment to professional ethics and responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
