Communications Specialist (Maternity cover)

At the Novo Nordisk Foundation, we work to progress research and innovation to improve the health of people and the sustainability of society and the planet. We believe that communication plays a significant role in achieving these goals.

We are currently looking for a 12-month maternity cover, who has experience with, and a flair, for communicating research or other complex subjects to a wider audience. Ideally you will be able to start in December or January.

You will be covering our activities within the natural and technical sciences as well as biotechnology, which include important topics such as the development of novel and better foods, climate change mitigation technologies and the development of a robust life science ecosystem to enable us to better manage current and future societal challenges. Hence, interest and experience working within these fields will be considered an advantage.

You will join our Public Relations team, which is part of the Corporate Affairs department with 19 colleagues. We value a dynamic and highly skilled working environment in which engagement and proactivity drive our activities.
We work together with colleagues across the Novo Nordisk Foundation as well as our investment company, Novo Holdings, which invests in life science companies that contribute to creating a healthier planet.

The job
As Communications Specialist, you will work to develop stories and produce them in various formats. You will primarily work with the following tasks:

  • Produce press releases, films, and other content for various platforms, including social media, in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Formulate and execute communication plans to ensure that the stories reach the right audiences in Denmark and internationally.
  • Keep a key focus on our activities within the natural and technical sciences as well as biotechnology, including BioSolutions.
  • Develop the next episodes in our podcast series Mikroskop.
  • Contribute to our efforts of building a strong presence in international media.

About you
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of full-time experience producing news stories, press releases, case stories and similar content. It is important that you know how to capture the interest of Danish as well as international media, as we are aiming to raise our international profile.
Furthermore, we expect that you have:

  • A master’s degree within communications, journalism or similar.
  • Experience working with media and news distribution, e.g., as a journalist or in a communications department in a company, organisation, or public relations agency.
  • Experience collaborating with external stakeholders and preferably within science or other knowledge-intensive subjects.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
  • The ability to confidently drive processes and projects.
