Associate Director, Scientific Strategy amp; Alignment

We are seeking a passionate Associate Director, Scientific Strategy amp; Alignment to join our growing team. As a key member of the Ascendis Pharma team, you will play a crucial role in the development of Ascendis' scientific and medical communications to external stakeholders, contributing to the creation, concept reviews, and medical and scientific accuracy reviews of materials and ensuring alignment to core strategic medical messaging in Europe. The Associate Director will be the point of contact for regional content developers and medical reviewers related to the core messaging and guidance on key themes contained in external communications with disease state and clinical data, such as medical slide decks, advisory board materials, and FAQs. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with cross-functional, global teams working together to achieve extraordinary results.

You will be joining the Scientific Strategy amp; Alignment team consisting of 4 colleagues, and report directly to Toby Damron, Director, Scientific Strategy amp; Alignment,who is based in California, United States, with oversight from Anne Bro Bjørnelund, Head of Medical Affairs Europe amp; Japan, who is based in Hellerup, Denmark. This role will be based in Hellerup, Denmark.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Demonstrate a command of therapeutic areas and expertise with products in growth hormone deficiency, hypoparathyroidism, achondroplasia, and new therapeutic areas in development
  • Analyze scientific data and interpret its significance to accurately translate, compose, and review scientific materials for appropriate stakeholders
  • Support content development and lead medical accuracy reviews for Field Medical Affairs, Medical Information, and Scientific Training across products and therapeutic areas of interest
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategy and strategic imperatives across therapeutic areas
  • Develop medical slide presentations for internal and external use
  • Develop material for advisory boards and contributes to Congress Symposia/medical education, as appropriate
  • Key contributor to Global Scientific Communication Platform development and adaptations to best support regional and local markets

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and a solid proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Veeva Vault
  • Expertise in Medical Communications project creation and medical accuracy review, including medical field team resources, advisory boards, congress/publication plans, conference symposia, and disease state education programs
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, medical accuracy review, and presenting scientific and clinical data
  • Experience in rare disease and/or endocrinology preferred, but not required

You hold a relevant academic degree an advanced degree in Life Sciences (PhD/PharmD/MD) is required and at least 5 years of experience within Medical Affairs
