Join the Biology amp; Pharmacology team in a leading and fast-growing biotech company

Scientist/Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist; Oncology Biomarkers

Ascendis Pharma is currently expanding its capabilities within Biology amp; Pharmacology with specific focus on clinical oncology biomarkers.

You will join the Biology amp; Pharmacology Team in the SVP area of Non-Clinical Development and Bioanalysis. The team, which currently comprises three highly experienced biologists/pharmacologists is responsible for integrated biology, non-clinical pharmacology and translational biomarker strategies to support drug candidates from early innovative research to and through clinical development. Here you will be responsible for the clinical oncology biomarker activities across 2 or more clinical studies/programs and will support/drive the operational oncology biomarker strategy.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Be the expert/go-to person within FACS/flow cytometry and preferentially one or more of the following biomarker methodologies: multiplex cytokine analysis, immunohistochemistry (e.g. Hamp;E, mIF), Nanostring, RNA/DNA-sequencing.
  • Design, conduct and coordinate clinical biomarker evaluations at external CROs.
  • Drive collaboration with non-clinical, clinical, bioinformatics and statistics colleagues and vendors to interpret clinical data sets and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Author biomarker strategy documents and reports, biomarker sections of clinical protocols, lab manuals and reports, regulatory documents, patents, scientific manuscripts, and external presentations.

You hold a PhD and/or post-doc training in immuno-oncology, tumor biology or other related fields. Relevant experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries or within a contract laboratory (CRO) is considered an advantage.

You have a strong scientific and experimental background and enjoy integrating complex scientific ideas into hypothesis-driven strategies with a focus on immuno-oncology/cancer biology and the translational aspects thereof.

Additionally, you have

  • The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders, present data and articulate seminal scientific questions and provide clear recommendations
  • A solid knowledge of biomarker development and platform/vendor selection and contracting and development/qualification and validation of assays
  • Experience in providing input to clinical protocols, lab manuals and regulatory documents
  • A solid understanding of drug development in both early and late stage development and familiarity with regulatory approval processes is desirable
  • Knowledge of non-clinical biomarker evaluation, development, and translational aspects and understanding of/interest in non-clinical biology and pharmacology
  • A detail- and quality-oriented mindset

You are proficient in English at a professional level, both written and spoken, and you master MS Office.

You thrive in a dynamic working environment and are able to manage multiple objectives in parallel and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
