Following our acquisition by Xero, we at Planday are thrilled to begin hiring for our first dedicated in-house Head of Legal. Based out of our Copenhagen HQ, the successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with the business and providing advice in relation to legal matters affecting the organization, as well as ensuring that all our operations are compliant with relevant legislation. This role will report to the London-based Chief Financial Officer and will work closely with the Copenhagen VP of Revenue Operations, external advisors and strategic partners, to provide legal and commercial leadership and strategic oversight.

What you'll do:
  • Work as an integrated part of the global Planday team to provide legal services on global or platform matters
  • Work closely with local advisors to help drive strategic relationships and initiatives for Planday regionally
  • Be a trusted strategic advisor to senior management and regional leadership teams on legal aspects of their defined areas and related matters
  • Drive and/or manage legal projects to improve operational efficiency, achieve global and regional education and training, and enable compliance
  • Review, negotiate and draft key legal documents
  • Ensure the business is informed and compliant with existing/proposed legislation that may impact operations
  • Contribute to internal policy and process development
  • Assist with any Gamp;A (general amp; administrative) and/or Mamp;A activity, as required
  • Assist with investigating and responding to enquiries from law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies
  • Liaise with and manage Planday’s external legal advisors, as required

Requirements

As our ideal candidate, you are a Copenhagen-based legal practitioner, accustomed to working in English as your everyday business language. You possess the following:

Experience
  • A strong academic background in corporate law; ideally including study abroad experience and/or additional qualifications gained in global contexts
  • 5+ years post-qualified experience; ideally from a legal firm/consulting house providing legal advice to companies in the international technology sector; and at least one successful in-house group/general counsel role
  • Experience negotiating amp; drafting agreements in a commercial context; liaising with regulators and statutory/law enforcement bodies; and working as a trusted advisor to a senior leadership team
  • Project management expertise in the knowledge domains covering general corporate law and business development, GDPR and Mamp;As
