Job Description

We create live and digital experiences - from tournaments that pack out major arenas around the world to great content that’s guaranteed to blow your socks off.

We work with some of the world’s best game publishers and brands to elevate their properties into amazing esports experiences - having delivered tournaments, content and shows in a variety of games, including: Counter-Strike, DOTA 2, VALORANT, Apex Legends, FIFA 2022 and Fortnite.

Over the last year, we’ve been working with Fortnite to develop industry leading, year-round, calendar of exciting and competitive esports events. Following last year’s FNCS All-Star Showdown and FNCS Grand Royale tournaments, we’re now operating the entire FNCS Chapter 3 broadcast schedule during each Fortnite Season for 2022.

BLAST Premier is a worldwide Counter-Strike tournament series where the best teams and biggest superstars fight it out for glory and a multi-million dollar prize pool. Famous for its unparalleled production quality and game changing fan-first moments. Attracting tens-of-thousands of fans to our crazy-big-adrenaline-pumped live events in big arenas from London and Copenhagen to Miami and Sao Paulo, with millions more watching at home on our broadcast tuning in from more than 154 territories and in 25 different languages.


The employee’s tasks shall include but not be limited to:

  • Understand and enhance BLAST’s unique proposition to/within the esports ecosystem to further strengthen and showcase what makes BLAST events stand out
  • Help identify needs and gaps in the [competitive] gaming space that BLAST could create an offering for, focusing on those areas where BLAST’s proposition is best suited
  • Support the Product team in determining the product strategy and roadmap for an event and/or program/show, ensuring that it is [where possible] innovative and value generating
  • With the support of the wider Product team, articulate, package and present proposed concepts and formats both internally and externally that [where applicable] have understood and respond to specific detailed briefs and/or RFPs from clients
  • Manage and organise execution of the overall product (whether this be online/remote/offline and with or without live audiences) while deep-diving into various smaller portions to level up particular aspects (e.g. broadcast, talent or in-game).
  • Build and maintain a strong and collaborative relationship with relevant publishers and developers as we co-create entertainment IP together.
  • Communicate with the wider org regarding the product and ensure that there is a cross-departmental understanding of the needs and wants (input required, output desired, deadlines, etc.) of the product
  • Where possible, take initiative/anticipate potential problem areas and take action/delegate to fix these issues in a timely manner, ensuring communication channels (internally and externally) do not break down in the process
  • Build, maintain and manage trusted relationships with strategic partners and clients
  • Follow trends (technical, broadcast, event, format, etc.) in the industry and maintain individual product expertise
  • Participate actively in important conceptual and delivery steps, such as internal brainstorms, product presentations, broadcast staffing briefings and wider org briefings
  • Engage and contribute in team discussions to help BLAST stay ahead of the market and better define the esports-as-entertainment trend
  • Help to maintain proper product documentation and [where applicable] provide suggestions for improvement
  • Play an active role in product debriefs and feedback sessions, ensuring feedback is reviewed and actioned for repeat events
  • Operate projects with autonomy and drive

Requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English (other languages are of benefit)
  • Understanding of the esports industry: a knowledge and understanding of the FPS competitive community in particular would be highly beneficial
  • Experience managing projects from conception to delivery
  • Client management and/or relationship building experience: with an emphasis on being attentive, responsive, solution-orientated and accurate in your communication
  • Track record of not only anticipating and identifying challenges and opportunities but also pursuing the handling of them resourcefully
  • Experience outsourcing work to tournament organisers, production companies and/or broadcasters
  • Adaptability to various work styles and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Evidence of creativity and autonomy
  • Nice to have: experience in a live broadcast environment
